95s win SYFL title, 110s fall in semifinals

The Emmaus Hornets 95-pounders shut out the North Parkland Buffaloes 13-0 in the SYFL semifinals on November 4 and this past weekend finished their season by beating the Lower Mac Mustangs by a score of 12-6 in the finals of the 95-pound SYFL league tournament. The finals win capped off an undefeated 11-0 season.

In the finals it was another total team defensive effort that held the Mustangs to only two first downs and allowed the only score on a late game kickoff return. The offensive line continued its dominating performance and controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game. This allowed the Hornet running backs to gain consistent positive yardage and hold the ball for nearly 30 minutes.

The team was led by head coach Terry Breidinger and assistant coaches Greg Newhard, Bart Schoenly, Dave Trexler and Luke LaFaver who stressed fundamental football skills and a total team effort each and every week.

The 95-pound team players are Tristan Francis, Kordell Waiters, Blake Marushak, Gannon DeFrain, Davis Ike, David Cobb, Nickolas Blose, Collin Setzer, Cody LaFaver, Gabriel Trexler, Aiden Takach, Dakota Missmer, Stephen Servedio, Aydan Kirby, Matthew Orehowsky, Jason Johnson, Chad Newhard, Cooper Schoenly, Shepard Henseler, Hunter Mensch, Sam Wassel, and Jonas Hausmann.

The 110 pounders finished their season on November 4 after a loss in the SYFL semifinals to the eventual 110-pound league champion the Bethlehem Bulldogs.

The Hornets had a great year finishing second in their division at 7-1 and with an outstanding overall record of 8-2.
