SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY
Krall participates in stadium band
Elizabeth Krall, of Whitehall, is participating in Susquehanna University's stadium band this fall.
The Susquehanna stadium band plays at all home football games, the homecoming parade and pep rally and at special events throughout the fall. Membership is open by audition to all university students.
Krall, a junior music education major, is a 2010 graduate of Whitehall High School. She is the daughter of Douglas and Deborah Krall.
SAVANNAH
COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN
Jandris makes dean's list
Stephanie Jandris of Whitehall was recently named to the dean's list for the summer 2012 semester at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Jandris is pursuing a bachelor's degree in fine arts.
Full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or above for the quarter receive recognition on the dean's list.

Peters student teaches
Amanda Peters, of Catasauqua, is one of 13 Wilkes University education majors completing student teaching assignments for the fall 2012 semester.
These student teachers are working in high schools and elementary schools in districts throughout northeast Pennsylvania. Their areas of specialization range from secondary English and history to mathematics and special education.
Peters studied elementary education at Wilkes. She will be teaching third grade at Penn Kidder Campus.
She is the daughter of Rod and Judy Peters.

Longacre welcomes freshman class
Andrew Longacre, a 2009 graduate of Northampton Area High School, welcomed the incoming Freshman class at Indiana University of Pennsylvania at IUP's 2012 Freshman Convocation.
Longacre is the student member of the Council of Trustees of IUP. He spoke on the need to balance academic and social goals in order to achieve a well-rounded college experience.
He was appointed as the student member of the Council of Trustees at IUP by Gov. Tom Corbett in 2011. He is currently a senior at IUP majoring in safety science and political science.
He is also a member of the IUP Ambassadors, finance committee member and board treasurer of the Student Cooperative Association, social chairman of the IUP Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers, a founding father and current parliamentarian of Phi Delta Theta fraternity (Pennsylvania Lambda colony), and a member of the IUP Varsity Track and Field Team.

Scirmacher enrolls
Stephen Schirmacher, of Coplay, is among the 4,870 new students who have enrolled at Wayne State University for the fall 2012 semester.
Founded in 1868, Wayne State University is Michigan's only urban research institution offering more than 370 academic programs through 13 schools and colleges to nearly 29,000 students.

Area students inducted into honor society
One hundred three Northampton Community College students were recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK).
Northampton residents receiving this honor include Timothy Garancher, Mandy Gero, Artemis Hader, Trevor Hucaluk, Alexander Kokolus, Francine Maiatico, Joseph Smith and Dallas Strohl.
PTK is an international honor society for students who attend two-year and junior colleges. To qualify for membership, inductees must maintain a 3.5 or higher grade-point average, be enrolled in an associate degree program and perform community service work.
