Paul Grothouse did the voice over for "This Old House" showing how the wood countertop was built.
"You saw me cut the miters," he said. "We are going to insert spines. If we don't cut the joints properly it won't come together.
The glue holds it together. We need good glue coverage including in the hole and then drive the tenons in."
Grothouse continued with his dialogue.
"John, Steve and Jake spread the glue well. We have five minutes to put it together before the glue tightens. It is clamped and checked for square because there is no second chance."
When the glue was being spread, Grothouse said they learned it had to be spread thoroughly by watching "This Old House."
