The upgrade at the Giant Gas Station on Chestnut and Cherry streets has been completed.

This is the first upgrade since the station opened more than a decade ago.

The self-service station was closed for several days last week while work was performed. Improvements include a bright red canopy, an lluminated logo and improved lighting and pumps.

Motorists, however, are not seeing any lower prices when they fuel their vehicles.

The Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission is giving the public the opportunity to tour the 7-mile trail without having to walk, jog, run or ride a bike.

The historic trolley tour takes place Saturday, covering more than two dozen historical sites and landmarks throughout Whitehall and Coplay. The narrated tour takes a leisurely pace.

Tours begin at 10 a.m. from the trailhead pavilion at Chestnut Street and North Coplay Road near the IRT caboose. The last tour is at 3 p.m. There is a fee.

Although store-bought Halloween costumes are a staple today, in years past, children used their parents' or grandparents' oversized clothes and pillows and a mask covering part of your face, held in place by a rubber band.

Instead of "trick or treat," you would sing a traditional Halloween lyric in order to get your treat.
