Postal unit opens at Emmaus Avenue Laundromat

Residents who live in the vicinity of Emmaus Avenue can now mail packages, pick up stamps and take care of other mailing needs while doing their laundry.

The Emmaus Avenue Laundromat, 2825 W. Emmaus Ave., Allentown, has been approved as a new Contract Postal Unit and is ready to serve the public with their postal needs.

A grand opening celebration was held Sept. 12.

A full line of postal products is available to customers 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

Owner Steve Banko said the post office approached him to submit a bid to become a Contract Postal Unit. Banko said his business is the perfect location; they went above and beyond the criteria with the extended hours and the site is directly across from a bus stop.

Banko had four of his employees trained to serve the customer's needs.

"I wanted to do this to serve the general community with their postal needs and make them aware of the services we can provide them," Banko said.

His laundromat is a self and full service laundry with wash, dry and fold services.

This 24-hour laundromat will celebrate their fifth anniversary Oct. 14.
