Lil' Hornets take three of four from NP
It was an exciting weekend for the Emmaus youth football teams as they took three games against North Parkland, including splitting a pair of overtime contests.
The Hornets 125-pound team lost a hard fought game 18-12 in overtime to the North Parkland Buffaloes for their first loss of the season. The Hornets controlled the first half and Liam Toomey caught a touchdown pass from Giuseppe Carbone to put Emmaus up 6-0. North Parkland went ahead 12-6 in the second half, taking advantage of numerous penalties and three Hornet turnovers. The Hornets fought back and, following some good inside runs by Noah Breidinger, tied the score with a Breidinger one-yard plunge. Cameron Brooks and Giuseppe Carbon had interceptions for the Hornets. The 125's are now 3-1 on the season.
The Emmaus 110s prevailed 6-0 in overtime in a hard hitting game against North Parkland. The Hornets' dominance showed on defense with key tackles by Antonio Rosko, Sean Vandine, Alex Adamczyk, Jude Negron and Izaiah Serrano. Ryan Walczak, Ian "the Bull" Kauffman, and Caden "Monster" Wright, continued to open holes for Jackson Karrat and Deonte Castro. A fumble recovery in overtime by Castro led to the winning touchdown by Karrat.
The stage was set for a battle between two undefeated 95-pound teams. From the first tick of the clock to the last, the Emmaus 95s fought hard to get the win, 7-6, over North Parkland to become the only undefeated 95-pound team remaining. The Hornet defense fought hard in the trenches, led by Tristan Francis, Davis Ike, Cody LaFaver and Gannon DeFrain. Quarterback Chad Newhard and running backs Kordell Waiters, Blake Marushak and Gabe Trexler ran for over 100 yards making this game another complete team effort.
The Emmaus 80-pounders defeated the Buffaloes 19-0 to remain undefeated for the season. Dominating offensive line play by led by Trevor Gitski, Chase Fotta and Nick Davidson paved the way for two touchdown runs by Lance Farnschlader (55, 20) and one by Jared Groller (75). The Hornets swarming defense, led by Connor Brophy, David Iobst, Aidan Behr and Andrew "The Hitman" Harmon only yielded three first downs all game.
