Laureen Sassano, 62, of Catasauqua, died Sept. 9, 2012, at home. She was the wife of Peter Sassano.

She was a nurse.

She helped found Parents Reaching Out to Parents (PROP), a self-help group for parents who have experienced the death of a child. She was a member of Compassionate Friends of the Lehigh Valley support group for grieving parents, where she helped collate the newsletter and wrote articles for many years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Phillip of Catasauqua; a daughter, Adriana and her husband Joe DiNenno Jr. of Coatesville; a daughter, Stefanie and her husband Erik Schrampf of Phoenixville; and two grandchildren, Aiden and Claire Schrampf.

She was predeceased by a son, Michael.
