LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Working toward a goal

Richard Heydt, 17, of Boy Scout Troop 72, Fogelsville, with some help from Ken Fitch, left, and his father and Troop 72 Scoutmaster Ryan Heydt, busily stains two picnic tables and benches. The tables will be secured to thwart vandalism. Heydt spent the Labor Day holiday weekend on the banks of the Coplay Creek in Northampton working toward his eagle Scout badge and pin. With the approval of Northampton Borough Council, the parkland High School senior is constructing a kiosk off Lerchenmiller Drive, which will provide data to anglers on state fishing regulations and information for the community. Heydt is also planting shrubs and trees on the creek banks to deter erosion and make the area an attractive setting.
