Lil' Hornets earn of sweep Steelers

For the second week in a row the Emmaus Lil' Hornets swept their opponents, winning games on all levels of the Suburban Youth Football League. This week the Hornets hit the road to take on the Bethlehem Steelers.

The 125-pound team was considered a huge underdog coming in, but Emmaus played at a high level to shut down the Steelers outside running game. Defensive ends Nick Roselli and Ben Maehrer did an outstanding job forcing Bethlehem's running-backs into the teeth of the Hornet defense. Cameron Brooks, Noah Bredinger and Giuseppe Carbone did a great job of plugging up the middle. Ben Wassel was in the backfield all game long from the tackle position. On offense, the Hornets struck for two first half touchdowns behind the strong running of Noah Breidinger, who had two scores, and Guiseppi Carbone, who had touchdown. The offensive line led by Gregg Johnson, Roselli and tight end Liam Toomey, opened up some huge holes on the right side of the line in route to a 18-7 Hornet victory.

The 110-pound team's defense was stingy, as they beat the Steelers, 7-0. With highlight hits by Sean Vandine and Peyton Hyndman, and the constant pressure on the quarterback by Antonio Rosko and Alexander "Big Blue" Adamczyk, the Steelers could not move the ball. The Hornet's offense, led by quarterback Jackson Karrat and the aggressive line blocking by Ryan Walczak and Caden "Monster" Wright, eventually cracked the goal line with Deonte Castro scoring the lone touchdown in the second quarter. The Hornets defense remained stout and Emmaus prevailed, in a hard-hitting game.

The 90s also scored a win, topping Bethlehem 28-13. It was a battle for four quarters with the teams grinding it out on both sides of the ball. Eventually the Hornet line began opening holes and the running game took off. Kordell Waiters racked up over 100 yards and Blake Marushak used his elusiveness in the red zone for two scores.

The Emmaus 80 defeated the Bethlehem Steelers 20-0 with two touchdowns by Jared Groller and one by Austin Schaffer. Tyson Karrat and Lance Farnschlader capped off the scores with bruising conversion runs. An interception by Andrew Harmon and stout defensive play led by Aidan Behr, Connor Brophy and Broc Andrew shut down the Steelers' offense the entire game.
