Weisenberg Elementary School student Hannah McDonnell, of New Tripoli, loves animals so she recently organized several collection drives for food and donations for local animal shelters.
McDonnell, a fourth grader, most recently asked her third-grade teacher, Angela Rimm, for permission to organize a class-wide collection drive for food and supplies to be donated to the Lehigh County Humane Society and Forgotten Felines and Fidos animal shelter, Germansville.
She created flyers to be distributed to her classmates, collected the donations and delivered them to LCHS and Forgotten Felines and Fidos.
In the past, Hannah along with her brother Ryan, a third-grader at the elementary school made and sold candy, crafts, and lemonade with all proceeds donated to animal shelters in the Lehigh Valley.
In addition, she has organized several collection drives within her neighborhood and asked for donations rather than gifts for her birthday.
She walks dogs at the Lehigh County Humane Society and fostered kittens for Peaceable Kingdom.
