Joseph M. Deegan

Joseph M. Deegan, 80, of Lehigh Township, died suddenly at home on July 30, 2012. He was the husband of Gloria J. (Werner) Deegan for 56 years.

Born in Fountain Hill, he was the son of the late Francis and Lucy (Merwath) Deegan.

He was in the in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict.

He retired in 1995 from the Fuller Company, Catasauqua, after 25 years of employment. Previously, he was a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Allentown State Hospital.

He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church.

He was a former recording secretary for the Boiler Makers Union Local 648. He was active with the Cub Scouts Troop 99. He was a former member of the Lehigh Township Recreation Committee. He was active with the Northampton Big "N" Band when his daughter Gloria was a member of the band and color guard. He worked the election polls at Grange Hall, Lehigh Township, for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas of Northampton; a daughter, Gloria A. and her husband Terry Reenock of Whitehall; three grandchildren, Corey Deegan and Brayden and Kelly Reenock; two stepgrandchildren, Courtney Bell and Barry Knoblach; two brothers, Edward and his wife Janet Deegan and William and his wife Rhoda Deegan, all of Bethlehem; six sisters, Suzanne and her husband Daniel Cressman of Allentown, Marjorie Wilbur of N.J., Jane and her husband Thomas Jones of Allentown, and Kathryn Nunzio, Maryann and her husband Julius Ruggeri, and Dorthea and her husband Carl Sewald, all of Bethlehem; nieces; and nephews
