Empty chair at Weisenberg supervisors' meeting
There was an empty chair at the table Aug. 20 when Weisenberg Township superviors met.
Longtime Administrator Reynold Reinert died the previous Friday, leaving a void at the table and in their hearts.
The agenda was light. After approving the previous meeting's minutes and treasurer's reports, other reports were presented to the board.
There was no subdivision activity, new or old business or public comment.
Supervisors tabled the well ordinance until next month and the roadmaster said there was nothing to report.
Weisenberg Fire Chief Scott Freeman reported to the board 32 people signed up for the fire company's first responder class, and two of them are going to be volunteers for the fire company.
He told supervisors the Weisenberg Lowhill Historical Society will hold its picnic at the fire company on Aug. 28.
Freeman also said firefighters would be presenting a program at Weisenberg Elementary School on Oct. 5.
This is during National Fire Prevention Week and the program will be presented to the kindergarten through second grade classes, approximately 270 students.
On Oct. 19, the third grade class will visit the fire station for a program on fire safety.
Freeman told supervisors the Aug. 18 car wash was a success. Approximately 100 cars were washed by volunteers.
Solicitor Donlad Lipson reported the hearing at District Judge Charles Crawford on the fireworks storage trailer problem was rescheduled.
In another matter, the township is proceeding to Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas to recover fines levied in the case against Rory Marraccini who allegedly failed to obtain a permit for a deck.
He was brought before the district judge who ruled in favor of the township. Fines were levied but have not been paid and the appeal period for Marraccini has expired.
