The 16th annual Parkland Trojan Alumni Varsity Club golf tournament will take place, rain or shine, Aug. 17 at Iron Lakes Country Club, 3625 Shankweiler Road, North Whitehall.

Participants are invited for coffee and doughnuts at 6:45 a.m.

At 7:30 a.m., an opening ceremony with bagpipes, dedicated to the memory of the late David Davis, club member and supporter of Parkland sports, will take place.

Refreshments will be available along the course.

The event will conclude with a pig roast at Willow Tree Grove.

All proceeds benefit the Parkland Trojan Alumni Varsity Club scholarship fund.

Temple Beth El, 1305 Springhouse Road, South Whitehall, announces "We Are a Community...A Synagogue Family."

Cantor Kevin Wartell hopes everyone will take advantage of being members of Temple Beth El and the larger Lehigh Valley Jewish community.

The temple's second outdoor Shabbat evening service will be on Aug. 24.

Dinner will be a barbecue with all the fixings at 5:30 p.m. This will be followed by the service on the patio at 7 p.m.
