Richard G. Engler, 90, of Whitehall, formerly of Catasauqua, died Aug. 2, 2012, at Cedarbrook, Allentown. He was the husband of Elizabeth D. (Sullivan) Engler of Whitehall for 69 years.

Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Winfield and Ellen (Thomas) Engler.

He was an administrative assistant to the chief metallurgist at Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 42 years before retiring.

He was a former secretary of the Catasauqua Club and served on the Catasauqua Library Board.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David and his wife Robin of Linglestown; a brother, Donald of Meadville; six grandchildren, Amy and Ryan Hinkle, Christa and Shane Bowie and David and Meghan Engler; seven great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sons, Richard and Geoffrey.
