Lehigh Carbon Community College reopened its Schnecksville campus at its regular scheduled time Wednesday morning after a bomb threat forced the school's evacuation.

State police, volunteer firefighters and a K-9 unit from Palmer Township were dispatched mid-morning Aug. 14 to conduct a bomb sweep of the campus.

"Early this morning LCCC received a bomb threat at the Schnecksville location and immediately the campus was evacuated," LCCC President Dr. Donald W. Snyder told The Press on Tuesday. "The safety of our staff and students is first priority. All classes were closed and exams were canceled."

The college, in partnership with Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, moved all children in the LCCC day care center to LCTI and their parents were all notified, he said.

Snyder said Lehigh County Emergency Management Agency was also at the college to provide support.

"The Pa. State Police Department has completed its facility sweep," LCCC posted on its website Wednesday.
