Krysta Cares Flight Club has first golf fundraiser for children

The "KC Flight Club", a service branch of the Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund, recently had its first golf fundraiser of 2012 "Courses That Care" "Miles That Matter" at Pleasant Hills Golf Course.

The Flight Club raises money to purchase gas cards for families who must transport children for continuing medical care.

Thirty-two golfers participated and more than $500 was raised to purchase gas cards.

Golfers participate in a two-player scramble format.

Top scores went to Butch and Brian Arndt (father and son) with a score of 10 under par followed by Scott Gardner and Bud Kroninger with a -8 and -5 for Bill Harper and Wayne Benninger.

Nancy Birosik won the Texas Roadhouse putting contest.

The Longest Drive Ladies winner was Janet Ifkovits. The Longest Drive Men's winner was Bill Green.

Green also won "Closest to the Pin" on No. seven with Frank George taking the honor on No. 15.

Even with the rise in fuel costs, this event will provide approximately 3,000 miles of driving for the families transporting children to the Good Shepherd Pediatric Rehab Center.

The Flight Club has provided these families with more than 10,600 miles through gas cards and gifting provided be Giant Foods.
