Frank J. Vandergrift Sr., 79, of Whitehall, formerly of Allentown, died Aug. 2, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Marie T. (Yost) Vandergrift for 59 years.

Born in Coplay, he was the son of the late Frederick Vandergrift and Julia (Marth) Vandergrift Bertha.

A Korean War veteran, he was a corporal in the army medical service.

He was an investment broker for Janney Montgomery Scott, Allentown, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Coplay. He was a lector at his former church, St. Paul's Catholic Church, Allentown, and served on its finance committee.

He was a member of Sertoma International.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Andrew and his wife Marybeth of Danbury, Conn., Jennifer and her husband Robert Nause of Allentown, David and his wife Lori of Allentown, and Frank Jr. of Dallas, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Lisa, Stacy, Kelly, Katey, Amanda, Lauren and Andrew.
