Lehigh Carbon Community College student finds success with workforce training

At a Career and Technical Education Expo Oct. 1 at Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), a recent graduate Daisha Monroig showcased the immediate real-world impact of short-term workforce training.

Just three months after completing LCCC’s fast-track noncredit Phlebotomy Training program in July, Monroig returned as an event ambassador. She demonstrated live simulation blood draws and shared her journey from student to practicing professional.

Within one month of earning her certificate, Monroig secured a full-time phlebotomist position at Health Network Laboratories (HNL Lab Medicine).

“Daisha embodies the exact confidence, professionalism, and clinical proficiency we strive to instill in every student,” said Rachel Strucko, Executive Director of the Center for Workforce Development, in an Oct. 26 press release from LCCC.

“Her quick transition to HNL demonstrates the powerful career momentum our noncredit training creates,” Strucko said.

LCCC’s Center for Workplace Development offers short-term, industry-aligned training designed to rapidly connect local talent with high-demand careers.
