Theresa D. Kucan

of Orefield

Theresa (Duncavage) Kucan, 85, of Orefield, died Sept. 14, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Born in Pottsville, she spent much of her adult years with her husband in Illinois and Indiana working as a flight attendant for United Airlines for close to 40 years until retiring in 2002.

She then became a proud member of the Clipped Wings Organization of retired flight attendants.

She loved traveling the world with her husband as well as her coworkers, including Kay Lang and her husband, Bob.

After retiring, she, Kay and several other coworkers who referred to themselves as the “China Club” got together once a year and she did everything she could not to miss it.

She also volunteered annually backstage for the Fineline Creative Arts Center for a one-of-a-kind Wearable Art Fashion Show in St. Charles, Ill.

During her early years in Illinois is when she realized her true passion ... her love of Labrador Retrievers.

She started out in the breed ring then moved onto field trials, hunt tests and most recently obedience very successfully in all.

Over the years she traveled the country training and competing with at least eight different dogs and one stray “Cat.”

She was an active member of the Allentown Dog Training club and the Waterland Retriever Club.

Almost 15 years ago, she along with her dogs and devoted sister and partner in crime and sweets, Josephine decided to move back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family.

Her dogs and her family were everything to her.

No matter how far the drive, she showed up for all family events big or small.

She is survived by her faithful companion and Obedience Champion Striker, her sister Josephine A. Duncavage; nieces, Jean Bagel, Annie Bagel and her spouse, Donna Jacobsen; nephew, John Bagel; and too many cousins to list, all who loved her and will miss her dearly.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Edward Kucan as well as her parents Anthony and Agnes (Stosilavage) Duncavage.
