Oct. 14

The Vera Cruz Community Association will host the Vera Cruz Halloween parade. Parade participants will gather at Mystic Chain Park, 3718 Main Road East, Upper Milford Township, 6:30 p.m. The parade starts promptly 7 p.m. The parade will include floats and the Emmaus High School marching band is expected to perform. DJ Cesar Rosado will announce the parade. All are welcome. Visit the Vera Cruz Community Association Facebook page for updates. The rain date is Oct. 15.

National Dessert Day will be celebrated 6-7 p.m. with the program “Pumpkin Sweet Treats: A Taste-Testing Party” at the Lower Macungie Library, 3450 Brookside Road, Macungie. The program is designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Also Oct. 28. Please note organizers no longer hold a weekly food cupboard. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted with directions on where to park and which door to use to pick up food.

Oct. 21

The program, E.M. Maus Burrow Mysteries, originally scheduled to be presented by the artist and author, Bob Boehmer in September, will be held 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus The program was postponed due to construction occurring at the church. The program originally scheduled for Oct. 21 about the Emmaus Police Department is now scheduled Feb. 17, 2027.

Oct. 24

Alburtis will host its annual Halloween parade 7 p.m. Food trucks, music performances and other activities will be available before the parade.

Oct. 25

The Friends of the Macungie Institute will hold a cash bingo in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Hall, 50 N. Poplar St., Macungie. Doors open noon and games begin 1 p.m. There will be cash prizes, raffles and food for purchase. Proceeds benefit Friends of Macungie Institute. For more information call 610-966-7830.

Oct. 29

The Woman’s Club of Emmaus will host its Fall Dessert Card Party 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Card and board games will be played. The event helps support the club’s scholarship program. Call Lynn for reservations at 484-788-2301. The deadline for reservations is Oct. 23.

The Upper Milford Historical Society welcomes presenter Doug Peters with his talk “Lehigh Valley Transit Company 1905-1972” 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Peters will talk about the history of trolleys in the Lehigh Valley. Elections for historical society officers also will be held.

Nov. 1

Scout Troop 80 of Emmaus will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser 8:30-11 a.m. at St. Ann’s School, 435 S. Sixth St., Emmaus. The breakfast will be held in the school cafeteria. There is a cost for tickets. Check, cash, Venmor and PayPal will be accepted. Children 4 years old and younger eat free. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and tea, milk and juice.

Nov. 14

The Faith Uniting Neighbors Group of Old Zionsville United Church of Christ will host the 29th annual

Bazaar and Filled Basket Auction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, Come browse through the crafters and vendors, check out the auction baskets and buy tickets for a chance to win a favorite basket. There will be a door prize drawing and a 50/50 raffle. Remember to check out the bake sale. The kitchen will be selling light refreshments.
