Coplay: New Normal to perform Oct. 9
Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., has scheduled its Friday night concerts. The October lineup is New Normal Oct. 9, American Street Band Oct. 16 and Video Daze Oct. 23. The season ends with Common Bond entertaining Oct. 30 at the Halloween party, which is open to the public.
The gate opens 5 p.m., the kitchen will open 5:30 p.m., and the band plays until 10 p.m.

The Weinlesefest (grape dance) at Coplay Saengerbund is planned for 3-6 p.m. Oct. 11. It is a celebration of the grape harvest and making of the new wine and is sponsored by the club’s heritage committee.
There will be music by the Emil Schanta Band, games, a special selection of wines, delicious food, a wine-themed sing-a-long, special dances and door prizes. Wear your German outfits.
There is a small cost, and the event is open to the public.

The Coplay Halloween parade will be held 7 p.m. Oct. 20. The parade begins at Ninth and Chestnut streets, turns right on Second Street and ends up at Saengerbund on South Fifth Street for refreshments and snacks.

Trick-or-treat night is set for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 30. Rain date is Oct. 31.
Drive safely as many of our kids will be out walking around town seeking treats.

Don’t forget Nov. 1 is the return to standard time, starting 2 a.m., when you turn your clocks back an hour. Enjoy that extra hour of sleep.

The mayor’s office is seeking Coplay residents interested in developing and leading a Coplay town watch. Training will be provided in crime watching and activities to increase the safety of Coplay.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the municipal building, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month. If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.
The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

The Coplay aerobics classes are held 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the borough hall auditorium. There is a cost by donation.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has a special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St. Worn-out American flags can be deposited into the mailbox for the Post to properly destroy the flags.
