Falcons beat Oley Valley, Lehighton
Salisbury field hockey bounced back from its first loss of the season by winning its next two games.
The Falcons lost in a nonleague matchup with Oley Valley, but rebounded by winning their next two league games by decisive scores.
After falling to Oley Valley 3-1 last Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Falcons went back to work the next day and took out some frustration against Lehighton. Salisbury beat the Indians 6-0 to notch its first shutout of the season, then came back with another six-goal outburst to beat Wilson 6-1 on Friday.
The Falcons got balanced scoring in the two wins as eight different players scored goals.
Against Lehighton, Katie Carbone and Anna Grubb both scored two goals and freshman Ava Morgans and senior Ellie Schneider added goals, with Schneider now having a team-high seven goals. Grubb is second with five goals this season.
In the win against Wilson, four different players scored goals. Juniors Ella Morgans and Ryley Shoemaker both picked up two goals. Freshman Charlotte Harpster chipped in with her first varsity goal and sophomore Olivia Segata added her first of the season for the Lady Falcons.
Schneider also had three assists in the win over Lehighton. It was the second game this year that she has picked up three assists.
In their five games this season, the Falcons have outscored their opponents 25-6 with the loss to Oley Valley being the only time they have allowed multiple goals in one game. Salisbury is now 4-1-0 overall and 4-0-0 in games against Colonial League opponents.
The Lady Falcons were at Pen Argyl Tuesday before hosting Moravian Academy and Northern Lehigh for back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday.
Pen Argyl is off to a 3-1-0 start this season with its only loss coming to Bangor, a team that has opened with seven straight wins. The Green Knights also knocked off Northwestern Lehigh 1-0 last week.
