EHS announces National Merit® Scholar semifinalists

Two Emmaus High School students are among those named as National Merit® Scholarship Program semifinalists.
Justin Chan and Meenapriya Muthiah will compete in the annual scholarship competition for college undergraduate scholarships.
Justin Chan
Chan’s leadership positions include serving as president of American Computer Science League, copresident of Spanish Club and treasurer of National Honor Society.
Accomplishments include earning third place in National History Day state competition and first place in the Pennsylvania Envirothon Lehigh County competition.
Chan also holds a second-degree black belt in karate and works as a busboy.
His plans include studying data science or industrial engineering in college with career goals to work in operations research.
Meenapriya Muthiah
Muthiah’s is captain of the EHS Academic Team, copresident of Science Olympiad and treasurer of the physics club and World Language Honor Society.
Her accomplishments include recognition as a National German Exam Gold Medalist and earning a Horizon Academic Essay Excellence Award.
She is an online volunteer peer tutor on Schoolhouse.world and runs sessions for AP Chemistry and AP Calculus and is a karate student.
Her plans include studying civil or aerospace engineering with a minor in public policy in college with career goals of work at an engineering think tank or research in the field with an emphasis on policy advising.
Both students are recognized as AP Scholars of Distinction and have EHS Principal’s Honor Roll.
