State Sen. Jarrett Coleman, R-16th, informed the Upper Milford Township board of supervisors during its Sept. 17 meeting that a $1 million grant has been secured for the Upper Milford Western District Fire Company to construct a new fire station capable of housing its new fire truck.

State Rep. Milou Mackenzie, R-131st, also supports the project. Firefighters attending the meeting applauded when Coleman said, “Let’s make sure our responders have the tools they need.”

The grant will help fund a modern emergency services facility for the department, helping ensure it has the space and resources needed to serve the community.

The board also discussed a proposed parking plan for the Jasper Ridge development. Supervisors approved removing two designated parking spaces from the plan on Stole Road, with the measure passing on a 2-1 vote. Residents and homeowners association representatives said efforts to address parking concerns have led to improvements, although questions remain about future enforcement once the roads are dedicated to the township.

In other business, the board approved a $1.2 million wire transfer to pay in full for the Vera Cruz pumper tanker, saving the township approximately $28,000.

The next meeting of the board of supervisors is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St.
