Lace up your sneakers and join the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley for the 17th annual Ready, Set, GOLD 5K Walk, 8K Run and Kids’ Fun Run, presented by Heavy and Highway Construction Laborers’ Local 158.

Join the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley at the Ironton Rail Trail for a morning of fitness, family fun, and community — all while making a meaningful difference for local kids with cancer and their families. Enjoy food, music, raffles, superhero fun, and more. Every registration helps PCFLV provide critical support, joyful programs, and lasting memories for families in the Lehigh Valley facing pediatric cancer. The 8K Run starts at 8:30 a.m. The 5K Walk will start at 9 a.m. and the Fun Run/Obstacle Course for kids 12 and under will start at 10:30 a.m.

Wildlands Conservancy — Monarch Tagging and Meadow Exploration will be held 10 a.m. to noon at Trexler Nature Preserve- Environmental Education Center, 4935 Orchard Road, Schnecksville. Explore vibrant meadow habitats while learning about monarch butterfly populations in the Lehigh Valley, led by our Senior Restoration Ecologist and a Wildlands Environmental Educator. Sept. 20

The Upper Lehigh Historical Society is celebrating 250 years of our country’s history with a day of education from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Schneck House, built by founding father Adam Schneck in the mid 1700s at 5081 Route 873, Schnecksville. They will be opening the house, garden, goat shed with goats inside and summer kitchen for tours. Crafters and hobbyists will be available to share their early history stories. They also have children’s activities prepared, such as making tri corner hats, “mop” caps, little hex signs, and even whirligigs. Phil’s Food Truck will make funnel cakes and other delicious specialities. Sept. 26

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, (Leather Corner Post), will hold its annual fall picnic 4 to 8 p.m. There will be live music by “Midnight Special” from 5 to 8 p.m. They will also have great food, baked goods, basket raffle and a cake walk. The rain date is 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 27.

Oct. 4

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, (Leather Corner Post), will be accepting orders until Oct. 4 for their hoagie sale. Options available are regular Italian with everything or no peppers, no onions with peppers, no onions or peppers, ham and cheese; no onions or peppers, turkey; no onions or peppers, roast beef; no onions or peppers, tuna and veggie. Emmaus Garden Club will meet at noon at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus. Program will be “The Sport of The Sport of Extreme Gardening.” Join Jim Pantano as he takes us into the exciting world of extreme gardening! He will share insider tips on soil preparation, seed selection, fertilizing, watering, and pest control. Learn how to grow a giant Atlantic Pumpkin in your own backyard. This entertaining presentation is sure to inspire and entertain! All are welcome to attend! Light refreshments will be served. Entrance at the front and back of the bldg./gymnasium. Parkland Trojan Alumni Varsity Club will meet at 6 p.m. at the HOPS-Fogelsville Hotel, 7921 Main St. Fogelsville. Speakers will be the current Parkland Girls Varsity Basketball Coach, Megan Kave and Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Ed Ohlson Jr. All are invited to attend. Cost of dinner will be $15 per person.

Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield, will be holding its Octoberfest 4-6 p.m. in the Family Center at the church. Menu will include Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, baked potato with toppings, hot dogs, soft pretzels, nonalcoholic beer - Birch Bear and Root Beer. Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, (Leather Corner Post), will be accepting orders until Oct. 22 for their Kauffman’s Chicken Barbecue. The meal will include half a chicken, baked potato, applesauce and roll. They will also be selling apple dumpling with or without syrup. Pickup will take place 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31. Nov. 7

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, (Leather Corner Post), will be holding its legendary all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatball dinner from 4-7 p.m. The meal includes two huge homemade meatballs, a salad, drink and homemade dessert. Take out is also available. Tickets are available at the door. There is a cost for adults and children 5-12 years old. Children 4 year old and under are free.
