Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will be having a half-price sale on everything in the shop Sept. 21-26.

The thrift shop is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

We are happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing, household items and toys during store hours. Proceeds are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold its annual Oktoberfest celebration 5-9 p.m. Sept. 25 at the church, 122 Union St. Outdoor seating will be available, weather permitting.

Robbie Lawrence and the Steelworkers will perform. Come out and enjoy your favorite homemade German foods, such as pulled pork, chicken schnitzel, spaetzle, brats and more. The Biergarten will be stocked with your favorite German and domestic beers. No outside food or drinks are permitted.

The event is free to attend.

Bob Zakos Jr. would like to extend an invitation to anyone who would be interested in joining a group in the community with planning events for Thanksgiving in the Catasauqua and North Catasauqua communities.

This committee would meet to improve the annual traditions, some of which have gone by the wayside, and to garner greater interest in other traditions.
