With the regular season coming to a close, Liberty head golf coach Steve Bradley believes his team can make some noise in the postseason.

The Hurricanes had a 10-3 record beginning the week, and had matches remaining with Pocono Mountain East and Freedom.

“We’re playing well right now,” said Bradley. “We believe we have three solid golfers who can help us make a run.”

Bradley was referring to senior Jake Wachinski, who was in a playoff to advance to the state tournament last year, along with senior Cam Rodriguez, and junior Andrew Erfle, all of whom have played consistently all season.

Wachinski has averaged 75, and Rodriguez and Erfle have carted a 76 average.

Freedom, which began the week with a 4-6 mark, sees itself on the cusp of the postseason. The Patriots will close out their season against Liberty and Pleasant Valley.

Head coach Mike Evans has seen quality play from underclassmen freshman Vaughn Emerich, and sophomores Andrew Schmid, Cameron Sciascia, and Audrina Montesano.

“Emerich is anchoring the 3-4 spot along with Sciascai who has vastly improved from last year,” said Evans. “Schmid and Montesano are in the 5-6 spots.”

Evans also has been impressed with newcomers junior Kai Aschenbrenner, and seniors Caden Grimmer and Evan Plasco.

“They all have shown potential,” added Evans. “They will balance their golf/soccer schedules to help both teams.”

Bethlehem Catholic began the week with a 6-7 record. The Golden Hawks will end their season against Nazareth and Allentown Central Catholic this week.

Head coach Mark Csencsits has looked to juniors Zach Ostrosky and Ralston Rowlands to set the pace. Both have averaged around 80.

“Ostrosky and Rowlands should qualify for districts,” stressed Csencsits. “Our young players are developing, and they will continue to get better.”
