LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

FHS gets by LHS

Freedom’s Luke Twiggar scored the game’s only goal late in the second half to help lead the Pates to a 1-0 win over Liberty in an early-season rivalry game Saturday afternoon at Freedom.

Also last week, Freedom defeated Nazareth, 4-0, in the Patriots’ home opener.

Caden Grimmer, Logan Espinal, Angel Gaviria, and Jakub Lazewski were the Patriot goal scorers.

Meanwhile, Liberty scored two victories over Pocono teams last week, defeating East Stroudsburg South, 3-1, and Stroudsburg, 6-1.

The match against East Stroudsburg South was called in the second half for adverse weather, but all of the Hurricanes’ goals were scored in the first half.

Paulo Montiero, Eyad Essabir, and Joao Pedro Alves found the back of the net for Liberty, and Grady Hendricks-Mcgee scored in the second half for the Cavaliers.

Christian Hackett made four saves, and Jason Garcia had three saves, both for the Hurricanes.

In the match against Stroudsburg, six different players scored for Liberty: Diego Almanzar, Gavin Monahan, Montiero, Alves, Sebastian Lopez, and Essabir.

Lopez, Derek Briceno, Cash Paulus, and Sebastian Nieto were credited with assists.

Hackett made four saves, and Garcia had one save.

Bethlehem Catholic started its season with a loss to Pleasant Valley, 8-1.
