The Parkland Garden Club will meet 7 p.m. at St John’s UCC, 1027 Church St., Fogelsville. The program “Pollinator Houses” will be presented by Leonard Reed, eighth- grade science teacher and a member of the Emmaus Rotary Club. There will be an instructional presentation on creating functional pollinator houses for gardens. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for socialization and refreshments. Guests are always welcome. Lace up your sneakers and join the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley for the 17th annual Ready, Set, GOLD 5K Walk, 8K Run and Kids’ Fun Run, presented by Heavy and Highway Construction Laborers’ Local 158.
Join the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley at the Ironton Rail Trail for a morning of fitness, family fun, and community — all while making a meaningful difference for local kids with cancer and their families. Enjoy food, music, raffles, superhero fun, and more. Every registration helps PCFLV provide critical support, joyful programs, and lasting memories for families in the Lehigh Valley facing pediatric cancer. The 8K Run starts at 8:30 a.m. The 5K Walk will start at 9 a.m. and the Fun Run/Obstacle Course for kids 12 and under will start at 10:30 a.m.
Wildlands Conservancy — Monarch Tagging and Meadow Exploration will be held 10 a.m. to noon at Trexler Nature Preserve- Environmental Education Center, 4935 Orchard Road, Schnecksville. Explore vibrant meadow habitats while learning about monarch butterfly populations in the Lehigh Valley, led by our Senior Restoration Ecologist and a Wildlands Environmental Educator. Sept. 20
The Upper Lehigh Historical Society is celebrating 250 years of our country’s history with a day of education from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Schneck House, built by founding father Adam Schneck in the mid 1700s at 5081 Route 873, Schnecksville.
They will be opening the house, garden, goat shed with goats inside and summer kitchen for tours. Crafters and hobbyists will be available to share their early history stories. They also have children’s activities prepared, such as making tri corner hats, “mop” caps, little hex signs, and even whirligigs. Phil’s Food Truck will make funnel cakes and other delicious specialities. Dave and Jean Adam of the PA Dutch classes will share some stories and songs and Betsy Ross will be stopping by to share her flag story.

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, (Leather Corner Post), will hold its annual fall picnic 4-8 p.m. There will be live music by “Midnight Special” from 5-8 p.m. They will also have great food, baked goods, basket raffle and a cake walk. The rain date is 2-6 p.m. Sept. 27.
Oct. 22
Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, (Leather Corner Post), will be accepting orders until Oct. 22 for their Kauffman’s Chicken Barbecue. The meal will include half a chicken, baked potato, applesauce and roll. They will also be selling apple dumpling with or without syrup. Pickup will take place 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31.
