After busy summer, Allentown Central Catholic H.S. begins 100th school year
Although classes were not in session, Allentown Central Catholic High School remained active throughout the summer.
Several students traveled to Italy, where they experienced the country’s culture, history and landmarks while strengthening their faith. The Central City Project also continued its outreach efforts, with students growing vegetables for local food pantries and producing the popular Viking Salsa. Proceeds support community dinners and assistance programs for those in need.
The new school year is now underway, and Central Catholic is celebrating a milestone Centennial Year, marking 100 years of faith, excellence and tradition.
The school welcomed its newest Vikings during a freshman picnic Aug. 30, giving freshmen and transfer students an opportunity to meet classmates, faculty and administrators before the start of classes.
Orientation for freshmen and new students followed Aug. 31. Viking Ambassadors provided tours, helped students locate lockers and answered questions throughout the day. Members of the Aevidum Club decorated sidewalks with positive chalk messages to promote kindness and encouragement.
Returning students began classes Sept. 1.
The Central City Project remained busy during the opening week of school, continuing its salsa- and hot sauce-making efforts.
Connor Lawler and Julia Janis were named the 2026-27 ACCHS Viking and Vikette. School officials said they look forward to a year filled with school spirit and Viking pride.
Looking ahead, Morgan’s Message will host its dedication game at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at J. Birney Crum Stadium as the Vikings football team takes on Emmaus. The event raises awareness for student-athlete mental health.
The Matthew J. Spade Annual Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sept. 12 at Green Pond Country Club, Bethlehem. Organized each year by the Spade family, the outing raises money for the Matthew J. Spade Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to students pursuing a Catholic high school education.
