The Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners has approved two new partnerships for Jefferson Park in time for the school year.

The vote tally was 4-1, with Commissioner Ken Snyder voting against both resolutions.

Secretary Randy Atiyeh and Commissioner Lee Christman were absent from the meeting.

The first resolution was a community partnership and license agreement for park facilities and usage with Erik Lasko, Allen Wong, Tamra McGee and Tim Gasper regarding the reservation of Jefferson Park’s fields and park pavilions for community outreach and recreational and athletic programming.

Mayor Joseph Marx Jr. said the four individuals named are affiliated with the Lehigh Valley Flames, a girls’ softball league.

He reported the Flames have been using Jefferson Park for sporting events for years, and the township was looking to continue collaborating with them regarding sporting events and practicing at Jefferson Park.

Legion Baseball was also in the agreement to utilize Jefferson Park for sporting events and practices. Marx stated Legion Baseball been using Jefferson Park for decades.

The township has had an agreement with the baseball group for years, and the two entities were looking to continue the partnership.

Another resolution approved by the board in a 4-1 vote will direct Marx and the township to enter into a community partnership and park facility license agreement with the Tri-Boro Youth Soccer Association regarding the reservation of Jefferson Park for events.

Tri-Boro Soccer will also be allowed to reserve the Jefferson Park fields and park pavilions for community outreach and athletic programming as well.
