Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Also Aug. 26. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. A weekly food cupboard is no longer offered at the church. Signs will be posted with directions on where to park and which door to use to pick up food.

Aug. 14

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will host a free community meal 5-6:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Diners also are welcome to come inside to pick up a takeout meal. Call the church office at 610-966-3325 for additional details.

Aug. 15-16

The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, will host its fifth annual Fall Plant Sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 15 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16. The sale is held rain or shine and features cold-tolerant and frost-friendly vegetable, flower and herb plant starters as well as starters for native plants. All starters are pesticide-free, grown without synthetic chemicals and non-GMO.

Aug. 16

The Vera Cruz Community Association will host the 74th annual Vera Cruz Homecoming celebration noon to 8 p.m. at Mystic Chain Park, Main Road East, Upper Milford Township. The event will include music performances by the Rehrig Brothers, noon to 3 p.m. and the band Time Whys, 5 to 8 p.m. A cakewalk will be held 3 p.m. All are welcome.

Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 535 W. Emaus Ave., Allentown, will host a free back-to-school event 4-7 p.m. The event will include games, a family-friendly magician, a bounce house, free haircuts for children, hot dogs, chips and more. Students will have chances to win school supplies and a bicycle.

Aug. 21

The band Island Time will perform 6 p.m. at The Hills at Lockridge Park band shell, 7125 Scenic View Drive, Lower Macungie Township. The show, rescheduled from July 10, is part of the Lower Macungie Township Summer Concert Series. All are welcome.

Aug. 27

The Upper Milford Historical Society will host Dana Bala 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Bala, a kitchen historian, will talk about cookbooks and recipes and how they impacted family life from the 1870s to the 1960s.

Aug. 29

Parkland Art League artists will hold a pop-up art show and sale 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kalmbach Memorial Park, 200 Cotton St., Macungie.

Sept. 5

Upper Milford Township will celebrate America’s semiquincentennial at Lenape Park, Kings Highway South, Zionsville, noon to 6 p.m. The event is expected to include a parade, games and activities for kids, music performances, food trucks and more.

Sept. 13

The Macungie Band will present its annual “Barbecue and Beats Dinner and Concert” 4 p.m. at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5130 Snowdrift Road, Orefield. The concert theme is “A Celebration of American Music.” The band will present a program of selections by American composers including Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Chuck Mangione, John Williams and a medley of themes from the marches of John Philip Sousa by Warren Barker. There is a cost for tickets. Tickets are available online through the website www.macungieband.com, from Macungie Band musicians and by mail. Ticket orders must be made by Sept. 8.

Sept. 23

The Emmaus Garden Club will travel to the New York Botanical Gardens. There is a cost for tickets and the reservation deadline is Aug. 23. The 250-acre NYBG is located in The Bronx and is a national historic landmark. Trip highlights will include the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, rose gardens, water features and New York City’s only fresh water river. A 30-minute narrated tram tour also will be available to visitors. Oct. 3

The Emmaus Borough Police Department will host its National (Day) Night Out noon to 5 p.m. at Emmaus Community Park, 1356 Shimerville Road, Emmaus. The event is fall-themed and will feature law enforcement K-9, motorcycle, bicycle unit and drone demonstrations, a MedEvac helicopter landing, a car cruise, pumpkin decorating, food trucks, mascots, music performances, a climbing wall, bumper cars, local businesses and organizations and more.

Oct. 10

The Emmaus High School Class of 1966 will mark 60 years with a reunion event starting 1 p.m. at Superior Diner, Emmaus. The event will include a buffet meal, socializing and other highlights. There is a cost per person and the deadline for RSVPs and fees is Oct. 1. Address fees to Hope Delaco, 110 Ft. Sumpter Road, Alburtis, 18011 with checks payable to “Emmaus High School Class of 1966.”
