NASD administration preparing for 2026-27 academic year

Preparations for the first day of classes for the 2026-27 school year are underway in Northampton Area School District. The first day for students will be 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 24.
Open house for parents, students and district residents for East Allen Elementary School, 7200 New Seemsville Road, East Allen Township, is set for 5:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 21 and 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 22.
The schedule for August includes NASD teacher induction 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 3, 4 and 5 in district schools.
Other dates for the August schedule include the following:
• Northampton Area Middle School sixth-grade orientation: kiln 1 will be 8:30-10 a.m. Aug. 12; kiln 2 is set for 10:30 a.m.-noon Aug. 12; and kiln 3 will be 12:30-2 p.m. Aug. 12
• NAMS new student orientation (open for seventh- and eighth-grade students and families who are new to the district): 9:30-11 a.m. Aug. 13
• NAMS back to school night: 6-8 p.m. Aug. 27
• Northampton Area High School new student orientation (open to all ninth-grade students and any other new students to the building): for last names A-J is 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Aug. 13 and last names K-Z is noon-2 p.m. Aug. 13
• NAHS open house for all students: 6-8 p.m. Aug. 20
• George Wolf Elementary School kindergarten orientation: 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 18
• George Wolf Elementary meet the teacher night for grades 1-5: 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 19
• East Allen Elementary kindergarten orientation: 6-8 p.m. Aug. 19
• East Allen Elementary meet the teacher for grades 1-5 and kindergarten orientation: 6-8 p.m. Aug. 20
• Siegfried Elementary School kindergarten meet the teacher: 4-6 p.m. Aug. 19
• Siegfried Elementary first-grade meet the teacher: 4-6 p.m. Aug. 20
• Lehigh Elementary School kindergarten orientation: 5-7 p.m. Aug. 19
• Lehigh Elementary School kindergarten meet the teacher: 5-7 p.m. Aug. 20
• Lehigh Elementary School meet the teacher for grades 1-5: 5-7 p.m. Aug. 19
Picture days for students include NAHS 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and 26 and NAMS 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Aug. 26.
Approved cafeteria prices for the 2026-27 school year, at the recommendation by the NASD administration, by a 9-0 vote, at the May 11 school board meeting include the following:
• Student elementary and secondary breakfast: no charge
• Student lunch: $3 (elementary) and $3.20 (secondary)
• Student entrée only: $2.90 (elementary) and $3.10 (secondary)
• Student milk: $1 (1/2 pint)
• Adult breakfast: $3.25
• Adult lunch: $4.50
• Adult breakfast entrée only: $2.90-$3.10
• Adult lunch entrée only: $3.50-$6
• Cafeteria à la carte prices
The renewal agreement with Aramark Educational Services LLC to provide food service management for the 2026-27 school year was approved, at the recommendation by the NASD administration, by a 9-0 vote at the May 11 school board meeting.
Also approved by a 9-0 vote at the May 11 meeting include Mary Frantz, NASD supervisor of technology services, to NASD director of technology, at $117,000, with benefits, effective July 1; transfer of Bradley Charles, NASD network analyst, to NASD senior network analyst, at $96,000, with benefits, effective July 1; transfer of Timothy Vrabel, NASD technology technician, to NASD network support lead, at $90,000, with benefits, effective July 1; and transfer of Joshua Deutsch, NASD technology and assistive technology technician, to NASD supervisor of data and information services, at $90,000, with benefits, effective July 1.
School board and committee meetings in August continue at NAHS, 1619 Laubach Ave. The policy committee meets 6 p.m. Aug. 3 in the NAHS library conference room; finance committee is 6 p.m. Aug. 6 in NAHS library conference room; school board is 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 in the NAHS auditorium; and facilities committee is 6 p.m. Aug. 24 in the NAHS library conference room.
