Trojan CM team falls to Spartans

The South Parkland Senior Connie Mack team suffered a setback in its lone game last week. The Trojans were defeated, and have just one regular season game left.

Last Wednesday, July 1, South Parkland fell 9-2 at home to first place Southern Lehigh.

After a scoreless opening inning, the visiting Spartans got on the scoreboard with a three-run, top of the second. They added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning before the Trojans broke the shutout with a run in the bottom-half of the frame on an RBI groundout by Jake Santiago that brought home Liam Gerhart as the hosts trailed 5-1.

South Parkland scored its second run with some help from the Southern Lehigh defense as the third baseman couldn’t cleanly field a ground ball and Jason Brubacher came around to score to cut the deficit to 5-2. That would be the last of the scoring for the Trojans as the Spartans tacked on a few more to hold on for the victory.

South Parkland was held to just three hits and committed five errors. Gerhart accounted for two of the hits and a run scored, while Brubacher had the other hit and scored a run. Santiago recorded an RBI.

South Parkland, which is now 8-7 overall, sits 10th in the league standings, tied with the same amount of wins as Nazareth and Lower Macungie, who both sit just ahead of the Trojans in the table. South

Heading into this week, South Parkland had just a game against Moore Township remaining in the regular season.
