Schultz, McFetridge get one last game

Whitehall graduates Josie Schultz and Molly McFetridge took the softball field one last time at the Lehigh Valley Diamond Classic Senior All-Star Game on June 10 at Pates Park, Allentown.

Schultz, a shortstop, and McFetridge, a right fielder, played on the West team, coached by Emmaus head coach Rich Giering.

Schultz singled to shallow right in the first inning when West took a 1-0 lead.

“I was looking for an inside pitch, but it was more of an outside pitch, so I thought I could hit it and I did,” Schultz said.

In the top of the second, Schultz stopped a hard hit ball from rolling into the outfield.

“It just took hustle, and I was playing more on the left side of my position, just for the steal, so I had to track it down, took an angle to get it, and just put my glove on it to knock it down,” she said. “It was a blast. I love playing in front of the community.”

Schultz walked in the fifth inning, and McFetridge doubled in the sixth.

“Not many people hit off [Saucon Valley’s Maddy Seyfried] before me, so I knew it would be hard,” McFetridge said. “I knew she was gonna pitch fast, and she was gonna give some change of speed and stuff, so I was just looking for a hit. Either I would be the last out, or I would get on, so it was kind of stressful. I pulled the ball a little bit so it got in between, so it worked.”

Although West lost to East, 11-7, the game was an opportunity to recognize the 2026 seniors.

“It was very fun,” said McFetridge. “I got to play with some people from my tournament team. It was great to get together for our last game. I think we made friends tonight.”
