Gerald R. Brunst Sr.
Gerald R. Brunst Sr., 85, of Whitehall, died May 30, 2026, at Whitehall Manor. He was the husband of Gale Elaine (Schweyer) Brunst for 63 years.
Born in West Catasauqua, he was the son of the late Francis and Myrtle (Snyder) Brunst Sr.
He graduated from Whitehall High School in Hokendauqua. He later attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He had a long career as a mechanical draftsman at Lehigh Structural Steel. He performed as the drummer for the house band at Mount Airy Lodge and played with many regional jazz musicians. He toured with the popular polka band Walt Groller Orchestra and was also a founding member of the Live Music Band.
At 15 years old, he achieved Scouting’s highest honor, earning the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 96.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Barry Sr. and wife Maryann; a son, Gerald Jr. and wife Anne; a daughter, Melinda Brosious and husband Michael; a daughter, Judith Belletieri; four grandchildren, AJ., Sean, Lexi and Abby; special friends, Marty and Cheryl Rowan; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by a brother, Francis Jr.; and a son-in-law, Louie Belletieri.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m.-noon June 27 at Whitehall Manor, 1177 Sixth St., Whitehall, 18052.
