LCCC scholarships from opioid fund

The “District Attorney Career Pathway Scholarship,” a $150,000 initiative, established by Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan, provides a transformative opportunity for Lehigh County residents who have faced personal hardships or incarceration due to opioid use.

Funded through opioid remediation efforts, the program covers 100% of tuition, course, fees and testing or licensing expenses for credit and non-credit workforce certifications, GED or ESL programs at LCCC.

To be eligible, students must have a history of opioid use disorder and receive a formal referral through the Promise Neighborhoods of Lehigh Valley, the Lehigh Valley Intake Unit or Treatment Trends, Inc.

The scholarship announcement was made at a June 2 press conference in the LCCC Allentown Donley Center.

Lehigh County residents seeking to advance their careers through LCCC can apply for the “Promise Program Workforce Scholarship,” a $250,000 initiative designed to support enrollment in workforce and noncredit programs.
