Barbara Marie Novak, 76, of Northampton, died May 27, 2026, at Arden Court Assisted Living, Allentown. She was the wife of Richard Alan Novak for 55 years.

Born in Grand Rapids, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Theodore J. Jr. and Ethel (Stroud) Host.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Aquinas College.

She devoted many years to serving Hillsborough Township School District in Hillsborough, N.J., as a teacher and instructional assistant. In recognition of her dedication and impact, she was honored as Instructional Assistant of the Year for both the school district and Somerset County.

She was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lynne Ryden and husband Timothy; two sons, Thomas and partner Alaina Watts and Christopher and wife Kristen; three grandchildren, Samantha, Timothy II and McKenzie; two brothers, Ted and wife Shirley and Larry; a sister, Mary Beth Host; a sister-in-law, Pat Host; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Rick Host.
