Parkland girls lacrosse beats ACC

The Parkland High School girls lacrosse team finished its regular season last week by going 1-1 in two Eastern Pennsylvania Conference games.

The Trojans just missed out on qualifying for the EPC playoffs as they were tied for the fourth and final spot with Liberty, which beat them during the season to earn the tiebreaker.

Parkland began the final week by downing Central Catholic 16-3 last Tuesday, April 28, in the home finale on senior day. Two nights later in the regular season finale, the Trojans fell to rival Emmaus 10-8.

In the victory over the Vikettes, Parkland took care of business early and put the game out of reach as they scored eight of the nine goals in the first quarter and led 12-2 at halftime and never looked back.

Laura Volpe paced the attack with four goals and both Sam Schippell and Olivia Esteban netted hat tricks. Lila Temchatin and Addie Winfield finished with two goals each and an assist and Jade Caravello found the back of the net twice. Audrina Stewart finished with two saves in net and Molly Miller had three saves.

In the game with the Hornets, each team took turns outscoring the other by a goal in the opening two quarters as they went into intermission tied at 4-4.

Emmaus used a strong third quarter, where it outscored Parkland 4-1, to take control of the game and hold on in the end for the win. Winfield led the offensive effort with three goals, while both Sydney Sensinger and Schippell scored twice.

Temchatin rounded out the scoring with a goal and Volpe added an assist. Stewart finished with six saves in net.

Parkland finished the regular season with a 13-5 overall record and 4-4 mark in the conference. Parkland will now wait until the District 11 3A playoffs, which are set to begin next weekend.
