Kaas notches three hat tricks
The spring sports season is winding down as teams jockey for playoff position.
The Northwestern boys lacrosse team added a pair of wins to move closer to qualifying for district playoffs. The Tigers pulled out an 8-7 win over Freedom and then beat up on Nazareth for a 13-6 win.
They also had to face perennial powerhouse Easton, and the Red Rovers beat Northwestern 11-6.
Tyler Kaas continues to work his magic. The junior picked up a hat track in each of the games, including a five goal game against Nazareth.
Kendall Wikert and Braydon Uricchio also recorded hat tricks against the Blue Eagles with Wikert adding a fourth goal in the game. Uricchio also had three assists.
While Kaas led the team in goals last week, Wikert wasn’t too far behind with seven goals of his own for the Tigers. In addition to his three goals in the win over Nazareth, Uricchio had two goals in the win against the Patriots.
Dane Kauker continued his strong play in goal for the Tigers. The senior goalkeeper made 36 saves in goal over the span of the three games.
Northwestern (8-5) hosts Northampton (8-8) this week and plays at Moravian Academy (7-5) in their two games this week.
There are just five regular season games remaining for Northwestern. The Tigers need two more wins to clinch a district playoff berth.
