Joyce Evelyn Spengler, 86, of Northampton, died May 14, 2026, at home. She was the wife of Gerald Lee Spengler for 59 years.

She was a daughter of John and Anna Peterson of Pennsauken, N.J.

She attended Merchantville High School and went on to graduate from Lincoln Preparatory School. Later in life, she returned to college and graduated from Allentown Business School in 1995 with an associate degree in specialized business operations.

She worked as a seamstress for 35 years, including more than 20 years at Cross Country Clothes. She later worked in the business operations industry until 2005, when she retired to Myrtle Beach.

She also trained to sing opera and was an accomplished piano player.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jeffrey T.; a daughter, Jeanne S. Latshaw; two grandchildren, Bailey and Dane; and three children from a previous relationship, Scott, Dawn and Pat.

She was predeceased by a sister, Joan.

In lieu of donations, the family is asking people to do a good deed or kindness for someone in her honor.
