Whitehall’s boys volleyball team was awarded the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference silver medals after Parkland topped the Zephyrs, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 26-24) on May 14 at William Allen High School.

While the Zephyrs were never far behind in any set, some missed serves, misjudged returns, and the offense of Parkland’s Zeke Gordner helped the Trojans in the win.

Whitehall had the early lead in Set 1 until Parkland scored six straight points.

The Zephyrs pulled within one point on kills by Elias Kamhia and Omari Ratliff, but Whitehall returned the ball out of bounds for Parkland’s winning point.

In Set 2, Whitehall scored five straight points including two kills by Jayden Haik.

Cole Richards and Cole Rozycki kept the Zephyrs one point ahead of Parkland midway through the set, but the Trojans pulled away for the win.

Ratliff’s point tied Set 3 at 22-22, but Whitehall missed on two balls, thinking they were out of bounds.

A Parkland missed serve was Whitehall’s chance to win the third set, but the Trojans’ game winner ricocheted behind the back row.

Whitehall defeated Nazareth 25-20, 25-19, 25-22 in the opening round of the District 11 volleyball playoffs.

The Zephs were led by Cole Richards with 8 kills, 8 digs and 6 blocks.

Omari Ratliff added 8 kills and two blocks.

Kole Moyer had 29 assists, 8 digs and 2 aces to help the Zephs.

Drew Sodl finished with 14 digs and an ace.

The Zephs will face Parkland in the semifinals Thursday at 6:30 p.m., as the Trojans were 3-0 winners over Dieruff.

On the other side of the bracket, Emmaus knocked off Northampton and Freedom defeated Liberty. They will meet Thursday at 5 p.m.
