Northampton pole vaulter Samuel Hayes picked up right where he left off in the EPC track and field meet.

Hayes used a 13-6 to outlast Liberty’s Gavin Bailey for the EPC title. At the District 11 meet, Hayes cleared 14-0 to knock off a couple of Blue Mountain vaulters in Noah Lechleitner and Dalton Minnick. Hayes will now head to the state track and field meet this weekend.

Hayes is seeded 16th for the meet, essentially tied with eight other vaulters for ninth. The top seed is Alex Undorf of Unionville who cleared 15-1. Jonah Stucchio of Grove City, who cleared 15-0. Lechleitner also qualified and is seeded 23rd.

Jeremiah Strowder, right, placed sixth in the triple jump (44-07.75), but, qualified for states based on distance.
