Eugene J. Dax
Eugene J. Dax, 89, of Northampton, died May 13, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Patricia (Lukish) for 69 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Eugene and Margaret (Kuzma) Dax Sr.
He honorably served our country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict.
He was employed as the chief of police for Lehigh University before retiring in 1999 and later served as a deputy sheriff for Lehigh County.
He was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Northampton where he served as Eucharistic minister and was a founding member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He was a fourth-degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 4050 and was active with several fraternal organizations throughout his law enforcement career.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Christopher and wife Beth; a daughter, Karen Dyonda; six grandchildren, Christopher, Erica, Jessica, Joshua, Jennifer and Jacqueline; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Dolores and Barbara.
There will be a calling time 9:15-10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10:30 a.m., May 22 at the church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton.
