Strowder, Hayes win gold

Northampton’s track and field team competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference championship meet on May 5 and 6 at Whitehall High School where the Konkrete Kids captured six medals.

Jeremiah Strowder was the 400 meter dash gold medalist with a time of 49.41.

“I made sure to get out really strong, and I kicked through the second curve, and I just held it,” Strowder said. “I tried to see out of my peripheral, and I couldn’t see [Easton’s Keanu Edwards]. I just kept on going. I like to compete. I mean, it’s a chance for me to be great. I want to get to a 48.”

Strowder also won a fourth place medal in triple jump with a distance of 44-04.00.

Teammate Samuel Hayes won the gold medal in pole vault with a jump of 13-06.00.

In the javelin throw, Lea Fornarotto won the silver medal with a distance of 107-10, and Alexa Wiland came in fourth with a throw of 106-06.

Ezekiel Spencer placed fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.01.
