Edward J. Sommers Jr., 74, of Whitehall, died April 30, 2026. He was the husband of Cynthia J. (Heatley) Sommers for 53 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Clara (aka Margaret) I. (Heffner) and Edward J. Sommers Sr.

He was a graduate of Lehigh Carbon Community College.

He was a systems analyst at Cedarbrook with Lehigh County for 28 years before retiring in 2006.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Whitehall.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Edward J. III and wife Misty L. of Whitehall; a daughter, Jaimie L. Ortiz and husband Stephen of Mt. Bethel; two granddaughters, Ventura T. Ortiz and fiancé Erik Sink and Collene A.; a grandson, Cory J.; two bonus grandsons, Sebastian Ortiz and wife Uneida and Christian Ortiz and wife Larissa; and four bonus great-grandchildren, Mikyah, Layla, Mia and Sophia Ortiz.

There will be no funeral services.

Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society toward small cell lung cancer.
