Sports marketing topic for DeSales University seminar

The Council for Retail & Sales at DeSales University is host for a “Meet the Experts Lunch & Learn,” May 4, DeSales University Center, Upper Saucon Township.

The event is free and open to the public. Students are encouraged to attend.

Check-in and a complimentary buffet lunch is at 11:30 a.m., followed by a panel discussion, Q&A and networking beginning at 12:15 p.m. The event is to conclude at 1:30 p.m.

Panelists will discuss personal branding, personal and-or business image, connecting with fans, and how to stand out on and off the field.

The panelists are from the world of sports. The subject matter can be applied to any business.

The panelists are:

Joe Favorito has helped shape the public image of some of the world’s biggest names and events, from the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and US Open to Fanatics, the Harlem Globetrotters, and Major League Baseball. As an independent consultant since 2008, he has guided global brands, leagues and media organizations. Named one of Forbes’ “50 Must-Follows in Sports Business” and a Sports Business Journal “Power Player,” Favorito co-hosts the “CUSP Show” podcast and teaches at Columbia University, where he is Director of Industry Relations for the Sports Management program.

Andre Williams, a former NFL running back turned author, entrepreneur and elite fitness coach, was a standout collegiate athlete and Heisman Trophy finalist, and has AW Fitness Club.

Elspeth Huyett is an Account Manager at Vault Communications, a nationally-recognized PR and marketing agency. A former elite cyclist who raced nationally and internationally, Huyett is Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.

Bobby Dingell, a senior at DeSales University, is moderator. Dingell, a senior studying Marketing and Data Analytics, is an outfielder on the DeSales baseball team, President of the DeSales University Student Government, and a volunteer with Best Buddies and Special Olympics PA.

The event is sponsored by Walmart.

The Council for Retail and Sales, originally established at Kutztown University as the Center for Retailing Solutions in 2009, has been associated with several community partners including The Pennsylvania State University and is based at the Business Division of DeSales University.
