Volpe nets nine goals in three games
The Parkland High School girls lacrosse team has started its 2026 campaign with wins in its first three games on opening week.
The Trojans won their season opener 11-3 at Saucon Valley last Thursday and then took down Council Rock South 9-6 Friday in the home opener. Parkland concluded the week with a 9-7 victory over Southern Lehigh Saturday.
In the win over the Panthers, Laura Volpe led the attack with three goals. Sammi Schippell scored two goals and Olivia Esteban tallied two goals and an assist. Sydney Sensinger recorded a goal and an assist and Lila Temchatin, Jade Caravello and Madi Conti all found the back of the net once. Addison Winfield contributed one assist. Audrina Stewart finished with four saves in net.
In the victory against the Golden Hawks, Parkland led 3-1 after the opening quarter and 6-3 at halftime. In the second half, the two teams were even, each scoring three goals.
Volpe paced the offense with four goals. Both Temchatin and Schippell tallied two goals with the former adding an assist. Sensinger contributed one goal and one assist and Caravello found the back of the net once. Stewart made seven saves.
Against the Spartans, the Trojans had a strong first half, outscoring SL 4-0 in the first quarter and going to halftime on top 7-2. The Trojans had to hold on through a Spartan rally as they outscored Parkland 5-2 in the second half.
Caravello, Esteban and Volpe all scored twice against Southern Lehigh. Winfield, Temchatin and Sensinger each had a goal with Winfield dishing out three assists. Schippell added two assists. Stewart tallied five saves.
Parkland hosted Moravian Academy this past Tuesday night and is at Abington Heights Saturday morning. The Trojans travel to take on North Penn Monday afternoon and then play at Freedom Tuesday.
