Trojans top ACC, take division lead

The Parkland baseball team took sole possession of first place in the East Penn Conference Lehigh Division with a win over Central Catholic Tuesday, 14-2 in five innings.

Five Parkland players had two hits in the game, including Tsubasa Magota (2-for-2, 4 RBI), Sawyer Marstellar (2-for-2, 3 RBI), Aiden Henning (2-for-4, 3 RBI) and Chase Brunner (2-for-4, 2 runs)).

Marstellar pitched all five innings against the Vikings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six batters and walking four.

The Trojans dropped a nonleague game to Hazleton Saturday, 8-0.

Magota (2-for-4) had two of Parkland’s four hits in the loss.

Dempsey Lawson was tagged with the loss after pitching four innings and allowing three hits and five runs, with just one earned run. Parkland committed two errors in the game.

Parkland improved to 5-2 overall and 5-0 in EPC games with Tuesday’s win. They lead a tight race in the Lehigh Division where both Central Catholic (4-1 overall; 4-1 EPC) and Emmaus (5-3, 5-1) have just one league loss and Whitehall (6-2, 5-2) is not far behind.

Parkland will meet Emmaus next week with the rivals’ first meeting of the season scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at Coca-Cola Park.
