Trojan softball falls to Palmerton, beats Central Catholic

The Parkland High School softball team split a pair of games last week.

The Trojans went lost to Palmerton of the Colonial League, 13-3, in six innings last Thursday afternoon. They regrouped and took care of Central Catholic 13-3 in a, East Penn Conference game this past Monday at Patriots Park.

In the game with the Blue Bombers, Palmerton scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Parkland responded with a three-run top of the second.

But that was all the scoring the Trojans would muster the rest of the way, as the Blue Bombers added one more in the third, two in the fourth and then six in the sixth to end the game via run-rule.

The Trojans finished with two hits, while Palmerton had 10. Ami Patel and Elizabeth Pinkham had the two hits with Pinkham recording an RBI. The defense committed four errors, which did not help the cause.

In the victory over the Vikettes, CCHS took a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but Parkland answered with two runs in the top of the second inning and then scored 11 in the final three innings, with four in the fifth, one in the sixth and six in the seventh.

Patel, Addison Fritzinger and Allie Flynt all finished with three hits to lead the lineup.

Patel tallied an RBI, Fritzinger contributed three RBIs and Flynt added two. Pinkham and Jenkins both had two hits and combined for three RBIs. Gabriella Morrison, Gianna Hudock and Cheyanne Brawn all notched a hit and an RBI.

Fritzinger threw six innings and struck out two batters to earn the win.

Parkland moved to 3-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
